STATEN ISLAND, N.Y.– Emergency personnel responded to a crash Sunday afternoon near Exit 4 of the West Shore Expressway, where at least one person initially was listed as seriously injured, according to emergency personnel.
The FDNY responded to the crash at about 11:40 a.m. on the service road that extends from the Exit 4 off-ramp near Arthur Kill Road in Arden Heights, according to an FDNY spokesman and emergency radio transmissions.
The severity of the person’s injuries remained uncertain as of about 12:30 p.m, the spokesman said.
The Exit 4 ramp headed southbound on the West Shore Expressway remained blocked by police vehicles and a tow truck an hour after the incident was reported.
