A multi-car pile up involving two separate crashes has shut down several westbound lanes of Interstate 24 in Murfreesboro, according to the Tennessee Department of Transportation.

The wrecks took place about 12:50 p.m. just south of Interstate 840 and near mile marker 76.

One crash involved four cars and the other involved two vehicles, said Tennessee Highway Patrol Sgt. Travis Plotzer.

No serious injuries have been reported, Plotzer said.

The wrecks shut down the roadway for a short stint.

Just before 1:20 p.m. two lanes of traffic were opened.

The wrecks are not expected to be cleared until 3 p.m.
