Roads and a rail line have been affected due to flooding after overnight rain.

The A487 north of Machynlleth is shut between the town and Dyfi Bridge.

The Cambrian rail line to Aberystwyth and Pwllheli was closed for seven hours due to flooding between Newtown and Machynlleth.

The A44 into Aberystwyth was hit after a river burst its banks near Glanyrafon Industrial Estate, but it has since reopened with traffic lights.

The A458 between Welshpool and Llangadfan has also reopened at Cyfronydd in Powys following flooding.

The village of Llanbrynmair, also in Powys, recorded Wales’ highest amount of rainfall with 1.5in (40mm) falling overnight, according to the Met Office.
