Traffic on I-26 near Ridgeville was impacted for several hours Tuesday as crews worked to remove a tractor-trailer that crashed into the median of the interstate.
The crash was in the area of mile marker 185 on the eastbound side of I-26. The primary concern, officials say, is the fact the truck spilled a load of magnesium.
Lance Cpl. Matt Southern reported at around 1:30 p.m. that delays should be expected and drivers should seek an alternate route if possible.
Southern said the crash happened at around 9:44 a.m. when the tractor trailer struck an abandoned vehicle in the emergency lane on the right side of the interstate and then ended up running off the road on the left side of highway.
