Bing Launches Mobile Friendly & Blocked Resources Testing Tool – The SEM Post

bing mobile friendlyWhile Bing has been showing when sites are mobile friendly, they haven’t had a tool for webmasters wanting to test their sites… until now.  They have announced the launch of a brand new mobile friendliness testing tool.

Bing is currently checking for the following when determining if the page is mobile friendly or not.

  • Viewport and Zoom control configuration
  • Width of page content
  • Readability of text on the page
  • Spacing of links and other elements on the page
  • Use of incompatible plug-ins

Here is how it looks when you check a URL in their new test tool.

bing mobile testIt will also check for blocked resources as well, which is something Google also recently added as being an issue for being able to pass the mobile friendly test.

It will be interesting to see if people report differences between Google’s version of the tool and Bing’s new one, if one says a site is mobile friendly while another doesn’t.  But they both seem to be checking the same things.

The tester will get a current version of the URL every time you check, so you can make changes on the fly and ensure they are passing the test properly, or to go back and make changes, then recheck.

You can find the tool in your Bing Webmaster Tools account, or directly here.
