Electronic Arts unveils more details involving the Play First Trial for EA and Origin Access subscribers for its forthcoming first-person shooter Battlefield 1.
With Battlefield 1 having recently achieved a successful open beta, the game’s developers want to keep the positive promotion flowing as much as possible, especially since the title’s release date is currently less than a month away. Now, Electronic Arts has unveiled additional details about the PC and Xbox One’s Play First Trial for EA and Origin Access subscribers to drum up further interest in the shooter inspired by World War I.
According to a recent blog post from the company, Battlefield 1 is set to receive a trial that lasts 10 hours on PC and Xbox One starting October 13 for EA and Origin Access subscribers. This should please those on the platforms who are signed up with either of the respective programs, as the date for the trial comes more than a week before Battlefield 1 finally goes on sale to the public.
Out of Battlefield 1‘s full release of nine multiplayer maps and six modes, the game’s trial will contain five maps and four modes featured in the early access version to start, with more being added as it gets closer to the title’s official launch. To be specific, Sinai Desert, Amiens, St. Quentin Scar, Fao Fortress, and Suez will be accessible at the trial’s beginning while Empire’s Edge, Monte Grappa, Argonne Forest, and Ballroom Blitz will be tacked on from October 18-20.
Beyond the maps themselves for Battlefield 1‘s EA and Origin Access trial, the modes will be Conquest, Rush, Operations, and Domination at the outset, with War Pigeons and Team Deathmatch coming October 18-20. Furthermore, players will also be able to try two campaign missions known as Storm of Steel and Through Mud and Blood.
For those who wish to get a head start on playing Battlefield 1 through the trials, EA Access is offered to fans for $5 per month or $30 for an annual subscription, while Origin Access can only be signed up for at a $5 monthly rate. Unfortunately, however, neither of the services are available for players on PlayStation 4.
As is the case with other Play First Trials, all of the progress made by fans for both multiplayer and single-player will be applied to Battlefield 1‘s full version when it becomes available. Plus, those who take part in the Play First Trial during the October 13-20 window for Battlefield 1 are to receive what is known as a Trench Raider Dog Tag simply for logging in. As an additional incentive, fans who play for all 10 hours before October 20 will go on to get a Battlepack for the full game upon launch.
Taking all of this into consideration, it ought to be interesting to see if the Play First trials for Battlefield 1 can draw enough attention away from Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare‘s beta, which is scheduled to last for PlayStation 4 owners around the same dates as the EA DICE shooter. Of course, it remains to be seen as to which of the franchises will eventually come out on top when it comes to sales as the holiday shopping season starts to kick into high gear.
Battlefield 1 is set to release on October 21, 2016 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
