Air ambulance called after M2 blocked between Gillingham and Sittingbourne – Kent Online

Two accidents within 15 minutes of each other on the M2 between Gillingham and Sittingbourne are causing traffic chaos to rush-hour drivers this evening.

On the coast bound side, a crash between a lorry and a motorbike has left a 20-year-old biker with ‘potentially serious’ chest injuries.

He has been airlifted to St George’s Hospital in London.

The London-bound carriageway was also blocked  by a crash at about 5.15pm.

Ambulance crews were called but the extent of any injuries is not yet known.

The London-bound carriageway opened at about 6.30pm.

Police are warning of delays and asking motorists to take an alternative route if possible

The first crash was at about 5pm between the same junctions, on the coast-bound carriageway.

It involved a lorry and two cars.No injuries have been reported.
